Some might have noticed that I've got some PHAT42.com stickers on the 40. So if you've arrived here after seeing one PHAT BJ42 Landcruiser drive past.. welcome!

While this website has a lot of BJ42 content its not strickly a BJ only club. Anyone can join and share photos and blogs about what happening with them. We have recently added a forum so we can now talk about 4WD modifications and accessories, as well as more forums to come.

Also, when you sign up you will also get 1Gb of free image hosting in the gallery and can freely post your images on other websites or in your blog posts. I also have some phat42.com stickers too so let me know if you would like some for your 4WD or car.

Hey all 40 series owners.

Just rounding up any interested takers on a trip out to the new Scenic Rim 4x4 park near Beaudesert on the 26 July (Sunday).

I know it's fair way off yet, but I need to book things in early to make it happen, probably the same for most of you guys as well.

Most likely, I will go even if noone else is keen, but post up you interest anyway to get a group happening and then we can sort out meeting spots, times, pub afterwards etc.

Cheers

Rick.

b_182102Further to ironpaws mention of the tough tracks comp (thanks mate) here are some more details. We have just scored sponsorship with 4wd action and will be featured in the mag after each round. There are two classes of vehicle, trophy and challenge.

Trophy is limited to 33" tyres, 4" lift and LSD in rear only (no lockers). Vehicle must remain relativley standard except for saftey mods and protection mods. Any engine changes etc must be DOT approved. Challenge is limited to 38.5" tyres and not much else but the car must be road registered and many mods need to to be DOT approved.

I will be competing in trophy class with my 3b powered BJ42 cruiser, going up against coil sprung patrols, bundys and some annoying little zooks (I like zooks, don't get me wrong, they are just so good for what they are!). My team is Red Rocket Racing, so if you come to watch, wear your brightest red shirt! I have little expectaions of results. The 40 is difficult to match coil trucks with better powered engines, however I have a ball and give the spectators something different to watch.

DSC01183Round 1 is on the 14-15 February with two tracks run on Saturday and one on Sunday morning with presentations Sunday arv. It would be great to see some other 40's out there, competing or watching. We in trophy class have a great time and there is little tension between teams, just good fun and spectating.

Not much to report for the first month of 2009.. I've started doing some of my own web work on the side (see QLD Spares and Repairs banner/webiste).. I've also secured a new job which I start in mid Feb and managed to get out for a wheel at the Glasshouse Mountains yesterday.

IMG_2092My Phat42 has got some love and finally got my starting issues sorted. A dodgy starter was the culprit and starting on the 2nd crank is now a dream. I enjoy driving the 40 again! Well.. that was until we went to go wheeling yesterday. On the way to the tracks after fueling up I noticed I was loosing power. Lucky for me I had caught up to Ray who i was heading to the tracks with. We would bleed the fuel system at the injectors and changed fuel filters, tightened the injector themselves and eventually by passed everything to find the water seperator was letting air in the system..

Each time we thought we'd fixed it we'd pull back onto the Hwy and get a bit further down the road..  After taking the water seperator out of the fuel system the 40 was solid for the rest of the day.. Its weird that it went but it was obviously the problem. Big thanks goes to Ray for wrecking one of his good shirts :P and getting covered up to the elbows in diesel..

IMG_2095New member FundyOne (aka Pierre) and on an extended visit from Canada came out with me to experience how we roll down under.. I'm sure he had a good day out with some of the rigs we ran with and especially took a liking to Boof's V8 SAS'd Hilux.. Heres a link to his trip report of the day (with more photos!).

Welcome to some new members over the last few weeks.. Rocky4x4, Ricko, FundyOne and yo_jono!! Hope you guys can get some info and share some pics out on here.

Ricko has mentioned to me that Tough Tracks are holding their first comp for the year at Janowen on the 14-15Feb (i think, i'll get more details here in a sec). He'll be running his red rocket in it so it'll be good to see another Phat42 battling it out with the Jeeps and Zooks.

b_182102I heard from Roothy during last week and he tells me they laid down the voice over tracks for the 4wd Action DVD shoot we did in December last year. From all reports he reckons it could be a collectors edition for all those 40 fans out there.. although he might be biased! I reckon we might see it on the March or April edition of the magazine..

Thats all for me I'll be back to post up more details about the Tough Tracks comp. Also, Ray has a HJ61 Landcruiser Sahara for sale if anyone is interested. I'll post up some info about that soon too.

Cheers!

The Australia Day 1kg Steak Challenge, Caxton Hotel, Brisbane, AU - [Supersized Meals]

Once again it's awwwwn! The Caxton Kilo Challenge is back for its second year of beefy goodness. The Challenge: Eat the "Caxton Kilo", a 1kg (35oz) steak, with sides (Potato, salad). The Prize: A "Goodies" bag. (If it's the same as last year, vouchers, merchandise, hat, etc). Don't miss out, last years event was fantastic!

This is a worthwhile challange if you like your meat.. I was with Billy when he and Karim attempted this challenge last year.. I'm not a big eater by any means so I think I'd leave this one to the pros.

This Japanese Breast Pillow Is Relaxing and Erotic (Eraxing?) [Boob Pillow] - The only thing better than sleeping on a woman's lap is sleeping betwixt a woman's boobs. This Japanese boob pillow is the only way most people can do this without actually crushing said woman.... [Gizmodo]

Hmm.. I know what is going on my shopping list for Japan later this year.. and I think this will be somewhere near the top!
