We got a few guys of spacebook from the old 40 series group to go out wheeling.. It was a bit of a late start with most of the group having some minor issues which caused a few delays.
All in all a good day even though it was pretty hot and dusty out there on the tracks. Stay tuned over the next few days as I put some of the footage together and upload my photos.
So I had to get out for a wheel on the weekend and try out my Go Pro HD camera while 4wding.. I had heard that there were still some tracks out at Ormeau so I thought I’d take a quick/easy run down there on my own to check it out at my own pace…
The 40 went well on the M1 and once past the water tower and aired down I noticed straight away a lot of the tracks we used to drive had been cut off with massive boulders.. With all the “Keep Out” and “Trespassers will be prosecuted” signs I decided against going in to check it out.. instead I followed the firetrail/gazetted road down to the creek section for a bit of a play..
Didn’t take many photos except for these two..
So I got plenty of footage with the Go Pro camera and even tested out it’s durability by driving over it once when it fell off the front fender.. it survived with no problems.. So last night I spent some time trying to put the clips together.. and heres the final result..
This is the first time I’ve used Cinelerra to put the video together and for a first run its not too bad.. I’m sure with some more practise I’ll produce some better videos..
As I mentioned yesterday there was an issue of the larger images not appearing when you click on a thumbnail from within a post. This has now been fixed and you can browse the larger images directly from the post!
Well with the Phat42 dusted off and back onto daily driver duties I thought it was time to update the website!
As you will notice things are a bit different from last time and hopefully this will be a bit better and have less spam than I was getting before.
If you have clicked on any of the images in the previous posts you will notice that the larger sized images are not showing correctly.. this is a work-in-progress and I’m hoping to have this fixed shortly.
So I saw on the Outerlimits4x4 that KPD4x4 were doing special pricing on the Go Pro HD Motorsport camera not long ago but when I enquired the deal had ended. I got talking to Dan who offered a discounted price that was competitive and bought one..
I was very happy overall with the transaction and customer service provided by Dan at KPD4x4.com and would recommend them for your future part purchases!
Heres a sample of some footage I took with the Go Pro on the Lexus..
Here are some pics from our Brass Monkey weekend out at LCMP. I headed out on Thursday last week with Chester in his Heep before the others rocked up over the next few days. That afternoon we did a bit of playing around on the holes near the campsite..
Over the next few days we did some more wheeling and after some consistent drizzle all weekend made everything more fun. Was great driving up some slippery rutted climb in 2nd low at full noise scrabbling for traction.
didnt really get to do any hard tracks or the usual camp road/cruiser canyon but what we did wheel as good. Had to recover a triton and go out and find a bronco in the middle of the night. also had a chance to drive the v8 bronco with fresh nascar diff center
We were out at scenic on the weekend. didnt get do to much wheeling but got a few tracks in saturday arvo, of what we did I noticed a heap more stability and control. the 40 surprised me by just idling up the technical stuff with hardly any wheelspin.
first time both the 40 and 80 have been out together
didnt really get a chance to head down to the winter wheeling but it was good seein all the build buggies and rigs getting around on the weekend.
Well the 40 got dusted off and touched up and made it out to LCMP this weekend. was fun driving out there friday night but fark me is that gravel road is crap at night and at speed (60kph)… got the phone number for kilcoy council and will be giving them a piece of mind during the week. It was a bit fresh heading out there at night in a softtop too!
anyway.. had a good run as I was traveling light, didnt wheel too much cept for some mild tracks during firewood collection, hardest was probably camp road and I stuck my nose in to check out cruiser canyon without committing. It was late in the arvo and we were keen to get back to camp to start cooking the roast. it was just good to get out camping and enjoy the cold again.
really got to use and notice the improvement 1st low gives now on the technical downhills. didnt get much usable vids but got a few happy snaps.
